GHA Livigunn a multi-disciplined Engineering Design Services and Consultants covering the water, chemical, rail, building, power and nuclear industries from their offices in Cheadle, Frodsham, Leeds and Watford held their biannual event this year in Dalesbridge, Yorkshire. The 2010 GHA Livigunn Challenge was again supporting WaterAid for the 3rd time running.
The 2010
event saw 15 teams of the Construction Industry’s Elite enter, the most entries in the history of the GHA Livigunn Challenge. Teams of professionals entered from GCA, Interserve, Morgan Sindall, Carillion, Byzak, Balfour Beatty, Bowman Riley Architects, AEW Architects, Rex Procter & Partners, Sirius, Electricity Alliance North, GHA Livigunn Cheadle, GHA Livigunn Frodsham, BSCP (GHA Livigunn Group Leeds) and Taylor Young.
The 15 teams competed against each other over a series of stages, which included events such as orienteering, caving, and pot holing with weather proving a vital part whilst climbing Ingleborough, the second highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales. The competitors required navigational skills, basic fitness and the ability to work as a team.
First time entrants GCA titled ‘The Water Rats’ walked away winners of the event collecting the coveted GHA
Livigunn Challenge trophy, with Interserve a close second. A special trophy was awarded to ‘The Revenge of the Ninja Squirrels’ the top fund raising team, Electricity Alliance North.
The greatest achievement of the event saw £23,000 raised in aid of the charity WaterAid, the highest amount raised in the history of the GHA Livigunn Challenge to date. The £23,000 was presented at the United Utilities WaterAid Ball on the 8th of October 2010.
Stewart Tennant, GHA Livigunn’s Director commented: “I am absolutely thrilled that this year’s challenge has been the biggest in terms of number of teams and money raised for charity. We made a conscious decision to make this challenge more physically challenging than the last couple of events and the teams responded magnificently to show how much it means to be the winner. A big thank you to all the teams who have supported the event.”
