Leeds Office Complete GRC Façade
Atlantis Hotel, Dubai

The Leeds office (BSCP) were approached to assist with the complex GRC façade that formed the external envelope for the Atlantis Hotel situated on the Palm Jumeirah development Dubai.

The Atlantis is a joint venture between Kerzener International Limited and the Istithmar PSJC, with the hotel consisting of two main towers linked by a bridge with a highly decorative arch feature beneath. The arch feature is approximately 40 metres wide at the base and approximately 65 metres in height. The entire envelope utilises approximately 80,000m² of Grade 18 GRC that was manufactured and supplied by Emirates Precast Construction of Dubai to the Leeds Office’s detailed design. GRC was specified for the external envelope for three primary reasons: mass, speed of installation and the full fit to architectural intent. BSCP provide independent design, procurement and construction advice on all aspects of Glass Reinforced Concrete [GRC] building exteriors across the world with over 30 years experience in the GRC industry. BSCP's detailed knowledge of GRC and its manufacturing processes, fixing design and detailing, enables architects to realise their vision of what the facade should be alongside the 3D design capabilities which help to ensure that the facade can be optimised for performance and materials.
