This is the first of a series of articles by GHA Livigunns' Stewart Tennant to be published in Construction News.
"Ground improvement in its various guises has been with us since at least the mid-1960s. The most commonly used techniques in the UK are vibro compaction/replacement stone columns, vibro concrete columns and lime stabilisation.
