DSEAR Risk Assesments

Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR) 2002 came into force on the 30th June 2003. This legislation has the aim of ensuring that the workplace has adequate protection against the risk from fire, explosion and similar events, arising from the use or presence of Dangerous Substances. 

Regulation 5 of DSEAR requires that a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to all personnel, which arise from the dangerous substance’s is made and documented. This is to include

           Risk assessment of the activities involving dangerous substances

           How, fire, explosion or similar event could occur and cause harm to employees or the public

           Measures to reduce or eliminate the risk as far as reasonably possible.
